The Cyprus Hockey Academy (CHA), based in Nicosia, was established in 2005 to promote youth participation in the sport. A key area of focus is to raise awareness of the game in a world dominated not just by football but by the more sedentary pursuits of computer games and television.

The Academy has around 40 U-16 players on Saturday mornings (10:30-12:00), as well as a newly introduced session on Wednesday afternoons (15:30-17:30).

To date CHA has visited more than 50 schools, as well as participating in a Ministry of Education programme held at the multipurpose Evangelos Florakis Sports Hall, offering elementary school pupils an opportunity to try different sports. However, as most elementary schools in Cyprus lack teachers specially trained in physical education, the Academy is also working to encourage greater expertise in this area.
